Federal Civil Service Commission Promises Safe Rescue of Kidnapped Candidates
The Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Prof. Tunji Olaopa, says the commission is working assiduously towards rescuing some of its officials kidnapped by Gunmen. Olaopa, who spoke with Newsmen in Abuja during the first ever computer based Promotion Examination for directorate level officers in Abuja on Thursday said the commission is working with security agencies to ensure the safe return of the affected officers.
The Chairman of the commission expressed concerns over the recent kidnap of some candidates noting that the commission would not relent until the situation is resolved. He disclosed that the commission has recorded remarkable success in its first-ever computer-based promotion examination for directorate-level officers.
He described the examination, conducted in partnership with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), as a significant milestone in modernizing the assessment of senior civil servants. JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, commended the FCSC for its bold and visionary initiative, saying the process would help eliminate fear of technology among candidates.
Commissioner representing the FCT and Niger State, Dr. Hussaini Adamu, lauded JAMB’s coordination, the use of CCTV-monitored halls, and the conducive environment, noting that candidates initially apprehensive later preferred the CBT system to the traditional pen-and-paper method.
